Attractions in Bacolod City

Bacolod is a city on the northwest coast of Negros Island in the Philippines. The 19th-century San Sebastian Cathedral stands beside Bacolod Public Plaza. Its original bells are on display in the churchyard outside. The Dizon-Ramos Museum is a 1950s house packed with memorabilia and photographs.


1.Negros Museum

This is a place to go if you want to learn more about the history and how the people of Negroes Island lived their lives in the early days. You will learn about old families’ elegant lifestyles through the museum’s collection of old furniture and fixtures from various ancestral houses. It also includes art exhibits and expositions from different local artists and foreign artists resident in Negros Island Region. Art training and seminars are also conducted inside the museum. Negros Museum is built for a remembrance of the historical events, culture, artistry, and adroitness of the Negrenses.

2.Provincial Capitol Grounds

This is the official seat of the provincial government, and it served as the headquarters of the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II. You will love the Romanesque architecture of the building. It also has a nice surrounding park and lagoon that includes the Ang Paghimud-os statues, which Eduardo Castrillo made. You will also like the interesting sculptures found in the lagoon. Planning for the capitol, which was to replace the old Casa Provincial in the city’s Spanish quarter, actually started in 1910, in the day of the inauguration of Osmeña Waterworks, then Speaker of the First Philippine Assembly, took Governor General William Cameron Forbes to an exhibition baseball match, after which they inspected the future site of the building near Fuente Osmeña. 3.San Sebastian Cathedral

This is also known as the Bacolod Cathedral, and it is located along Rizal Street, which is across the Bacolod City Public Plaza. Visiting here is one thing to do in Bacolod City as you can see the baroque architectural style, and it is among the century-old churches in Negros Occidental. A small village inhabited by Malayans called Magsungay was placed under the protection of St. Sebastian by early Christian missionaries during the 1700s. This village was later came to be known as San Sebastian de Magsungay and was put under the governance of Bernardo de los Santos, the village’s first gobernadorcillo.[3] Due to widespread Moro pirate attacks, the people of Magsungay moved to a new settlement upon the hilly terrain called bakólod, the precursor of the modern-day city of Bacolod. In 1806, Fr. Leon Pedro was appointed as its first parish priest. Years later, Fr. Gonzaga, a young priest from Barcelona, would envision the construction of the San Sebastian Church

4.Balay Negrense Museum

This city is among the two Museum Cities, widely known as the National Historical Institute, with over 30 heritage houses and museums. You will go back in time when you walk along the street. The building was built in 1897. Victor Gaston inhabited the place and was survived by his twelve children since 1901. Gaston and his parents stayed there until his demise in 1927. After they abandoned the structure in the mid-1970s, the mansion suffered rough times without up keeping. Local Negrenses group then took up the project to repair and restore the heritage building, which was later recognized as the Negros Cultural Foundation.

5. Campuestohan Highlands

There are many adventure rides that you will get your blood pumping hard. This is one of the best things to do in Bacolod City, and the highlight of this tour is the zip line, a rope course, a cable hamster wheel, a four-lane sky bicycle track. Campuestohan Highland Resort is a fun-filled tourist destination located between the cities of Bacolod and Talisay in Negros Occidental. This themed amusement park has swimming pools, a wave pool with bubble machine, zip lines, sky bikes, and other facilities great for team. 6. Mambukal Lake

There are many fun things that you can try out in this resort-like swimming pools, picnic huts, butterfly gardens, zip lines, bat caves, and others.
The resort’s highlight is the seven-waterfall hike, and you can hike the seven different waterfalls, which will be fun for you. Sulfur pools form the flagship attractions at Mambukal, with a public sulfur pool, the Japanese-constructed rotenburo and the Ishiwata Bath House forming the premier facility. A big mountain stream, fed by several tributaries, descends in a series of seven falls feeding the swimming pools and boating lagoon. The resort was originally developed by a Japanese architect named Kokichi Paul Ishiwata in 1927

You will also get to see the scenic sunset while you walk around here. The Capitol Park and Lagoon is a provincial park located in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, in the Philippines. One of the features of the park are matching sculptures depicting a woman standing alongside a water buffalo and that of a man pulling another water buffalo. A golden structure of a woman standing beside a carabao, and a golden artwork depicting a man standing beside a carabao, are found on both ends (north and south) of the park, facing each other. These golden structures made this ground attractive to tourists

10.Authentic Bacolod Inasal

Bacolod City has many attractions and favorite things that you can do, and there are many local cuisines that you can try out in this city. “grilled”.
