Cebu City (also known as Cebu) is the oldest city in the Philippines, in the Province of Cebu. It is often called the “Queen City of the South”. Cebu is the main center of Christianity in the Philippines. The city has a lot of interesting history.


1.AYALA CENTER

A large shopping mall owned by Ayala Malls at the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City, Philippines. It is the first Ayala mall located outside of Metro Manila. It opened in November 1994, one year after their rival mall, SM City Cebu opened. For more than 20 years.
Ayala Center Cebu spruced up and expanded over the years to a more modern, eco-vibe, international destination. On an average day, more than 85,000 people visit Ayala Center Cebu, with the figure increasing to 135,000 on weekends.[1] It is the centerpiece of the Cebu Business Park Complex

2. Basilica del Santo Niño

a basilica in Cebu City in the Philippines that was founded in 1565 by Fray Andrés de Urdaneta and Fray Diego de Herrera. It is the oldest Roman Catholic church in the country, allegedly built on the spot where the image of the Santo Niño de Cebú was found during the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi. And later after the
destruction of the church was recovered intact, deemed miraculous and has become the oldest. This image of the Child Jesus is the same presented by Ferdinand Magellan to the chief consort of Rajah Humabon on the occasion of their royal Baptism to Roman Catholicism on 14 April 1521. The image was found by a soldier named Juan de Camuz forty years later, preserved in a wooden box, after Legazpi had razed a local village.[1] When Pope Paul VI made the church a basilica in 1965, he declared it to be “the symbol of the birth and growth of Christianity in the Philippines.”[5]
The present building was completed from 1739–1740, and was designated by the Holy See as the “Mother and Head of all Churches in the Philippines”.[6]

3. Casa Gorordo Museum

Home of the first Filipino Bishop of Cebu, Juan Gorordo (1862-1934). A tour inside this residence is a brief journey into a Filipino lifestyle in a particular period between 1860 & 1920. The place presently features noted paintings, museum relics, a courtyard, antique household items and furniture. The Gorordo House was built in the 1850s and originally owned by Alejandro Reynes y Rosales. It was bought by Isidro Gorordo, a merchant from the Basque province of Vizcaya in Spain. Four generations of his family lived in this house including Juan Gorordo, the first Filipino bishop of Cebu. Thus, its present name.
The museum encapsulates the lifestyle of the household in an increasingly cosmopolitan provincial city from colonial.

4. Yap Sandiego Ancestral House

This is a 340 old residential home which is the oldest house in Cebu and the Philippines. The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House (one of the oldest houses in The Philippines) is a house of wood and coral stones located in the corner of Mabini and Lopez-Jaena Street in the Parian District of Cebu City. Built during the late 17’th Century by the Chinese merchants residing in Parian.
The Yap-Sandiego Ancestral House was built sometime between 1675 and… More 1700 and is considered as one of the oldest residential houses in the Philippines; it is originally owned by Don Juan Yap, a Chinese merchant with her wife Doña Maria Florido. They had 3 children, namely, Maria, Eleuterio, and Consolacion Yap.

5. Tops Lookout

6. SM Seaside City Cebu

known locally as SM Seaside or just Seaside, is a large shopping mall owned and developed by SM Prime Holdings in Cebu City, Philippines that opened on 27 November 2015, exactly 22 years after SM City Cebu, which opened in 1993. It is currently the third largest shopping mall in the Philippines and the eleventh in the world. The mall has a gross leasable area (GLA) of more than 470,486 square meters.[1] SM Seaside City Cebu is SM Prime Holdings’ third mall in Metro Cebu and its 56th mall in the Philippines. The mall is designed by Arquitectonica, the same company which designed SM City North EDSA, SM Mall of Asia and SM Megamall.

7. Magellan’s Cross

a stone kiosk in Cebu City, Philippines. The structure is situated on Plaza Sugbo beside the Basilica del Santo Niño[1] It houses a Christian cross believed to have been planted by explorers of the Spanish expedition of the first circumnavigation of the world, led by Ferdinand Magellan, upon arriving in Cebu in the Philippines on April 21, 1521. The site where Magelan planted a cross in April of 1521, virtually the cradle of modern Philippines. The Magellan’s Cross Pavilion which houses the tindalo cross was built sometime in the 1800s. The structure is octagonal kiosk made of coral stone.[1]
The pavilion and the tindalo cross itself sustained cracks due to the 2013 Bohol earthquake.[2] The original cross was also found to have deteriorated due to termites in 2015.[3] The pavilion was closed for renovations and was reopened in March 2016.[2]
On the ceiling of the pavilion’s interior, is a mural depicting the baptism of Rajah Humabon and his household by Fr. Pedro Valderrama and the planting of a wooden cross by Ferdinand Magellan.[4][5] The artwork was done by Jess Roa and Serry M. Josol.[2]

9. Temple of Leah

Teodorico Soriano Adarna’s gesture of love to his late wife Leah Albino-Adarna, a life partner for 53 years. They are the grandparents of Filipina actress Ellen Adarna and owner of motel chain Queensland in Cebu. The entire structure is a devotion of love of a husband to his wife of 53 years.
Dedicated in 2012 to Leah Villa Albino-Adarna, a wife of 53 years, the Temple of Leah combines Roman and Greek elements. The temple was built to preserve the teachings of a Chinese philosopher, Lao-Tse. While it wasn’t built for tourism purposes, it became one of the most famous Cebu tourist spots because of its beautiful architecture. Visitors will get an overlooking view of the city from a balcony. The Temple of Leah is located in Barangay Busay in Cebu City.

10. Sirao Flower Garden

One of the most beautiful attractions in Cebu, Philippines. It is only a 40 minute scenic drive from the main city. On arrival, you’ll see thousands of different flowers. In addition to the flower, there are well designed props to compliment the garden.  Aside from Celosias, other variety of flowers are grown in the farm. Flowers like sunflower, chrysanthemum, daisy and aster are among the flowers that are planted there. These flowers provide a perfect edge for picture taking. Floras of different colors and kinds were planted to create a vibrant and peaceful atmosphere in the mountainous area.
